This diagram serves as a summary of the three precedent articles. Solid gold jewelry is indisputably the best quality available. As explained in this first article, solid gold also contains other metals in variable proportions conditioning its fineness and color.

A good alternative to solid gold for a much more affordable price is gold filled but as described in this second article, gold filled can only be found in wires and plates and does not allow casting in 3d pieces, which limits the possibilities of design.

Just below gold filled is the gold plated jewelry category which encompasses yet two very distinct qualities: the micron gold plated jewelry (over brass or over silver aka "gold vermeil") which is much more qualitative and durable than flash plating jewelry that only gives a quickly fading away color to the metallic jewelry as explained in this last article.
